According to multiple Italian media reports, newly appointed Sonderjyske manager Sottil might opt to resign due to the significant budget reduction for the upcoming season after owner Danilo Iervolino’s unsuccessful attempt to sell the club to Brescia Holding.
Sønderjyske had announced Sottil, former Udinese coach, as their new manager on June 20th. However, only ten days after his appointment, Sottil could be on the verge of a swift resignation. This development arises from Iervolino’s failure to finalize the sale of the club to Brescia Holding, resulting in a substantial decrease in the team’s budget for the new Serie B campaign, which does not align with Sottil’s initial expectations when taking the job.
Last season, Sonderjyske struggled due to inadequate funding, resulting in limited reinforcements and ultimately finishing at the bottom of the league table with 2 wins, 11 draws, and 25 losses, leading to their relegation to Serie B.
It is understood that if club owner Danilo Iervolino does not address the budget cuts, Sottil might resign as early as Monday, Italian time.
