German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann might need to have a word with forwards Niklas Füllkrug and defender Antonio Rüdiger after an unnecessary clash during a recent training session.
According to Bild, Füllkrug and Rüdiger had a heated argument during Germany’s latest training session.
Despite it being just a friendly match, both players took their roles as opponents seriously, resulting in a competitive and intense encounter. Rüdiger repeatedly challenged Füllkrug, even going as far as tripping him.
German media reported that after the foul by Rüdiger, Füllkrug was visibly愤怒, promptly approaching the Real Madrid player. A shoving match ensued, which was eventually defused by assistant coaches. The German Football Association and Nagelsmann have yet to comment on the incident.
Interestingly, Füllkrug later posted a picture from the training session on social media, featuring himself alongside Rüdiger, both engaged in a competitive moment but with Rüdiger appearing to smile.
Rüdiger left a comment under the post, using the term “Lucke,” which is Füllkrug’s nickname.
Clearly, both German players are keen to move past the incident and keep what happens on the pitch, on the pitch.
