On the evening of July 1st, Chelsea announced officially that young Barcelona player Giu has joined the club, signing a five-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.
According to multiple reports, Chelsea directly paid Barcelona €6 million to activate the buyout clause in Giu’s contract.
Giu is currently 18 years old and plays as a forward. He has made 7 appearances for Barcelona’s first team, scoring 2 goals. In the statement, Giu said, “I want to help Chelsea win the Premier League and the Champions League, and on a personal level, I aim to contribute goals to the team and become one of the best strikers in world football.”
