Jakarta – Indonesian young rider Veda Ega Pratama has earned a battle promotion in the crucial 2024 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
Veda was selected, along with Thai rider Jakkreephat Phuettisan, by Dorna Sport to advance to this competition. Both names previously competed in the Asia Talent Cup (ATC).
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity came after Veda became the ATC champion in the current season. Now, his path to MotoGP is increasingly open.
“Last season, Pratama made a significant impact in his first year in the ATC. Despite an injury, he managed to win several races and ended the season on a high note,” read a statement on the ATC website.
Veda secured the 2023 ATC championship by setting three records simultaneously: the youngest ATC champion, the champion with the most points, and the champion with the highest winning rate in a 12-race series.
In the follow-up statement, the ATC said, “After starting the 2023 season as one of the favorites, the momentum continued to grow with 9 wins out of the possible 12 victories in the season.”
The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is a racing competition for young talents who have never raced at Grand Prix level. The race has been held since 2007.
For the upcoming season, the MotoGP Rookies Cup will consist of seven rounds. These rounds are Jerez, Le Mans, Mugello, Assen, Spielberg, Aragon, and Misano.
