Jakarta – Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia is determined to defend his MotoGP title in 2023, a task considered challenging.
This was revealed by Ducati Lenovo Team General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna.
“According to statistics, it’s a very tough challenge, only a few riders have managed to repeat their success in the following season,” Motosan quoted Dall’Igna as saying on Thursday, January 26th.
It is known that MotoGP 2022 was a memorable season for Ducati. The reason being, the team from Borgo Panigale successfully clinched the championship title.
Back then, Bagnaia became the champion after collecting 265 points, while Ducati won the constructors’ title with 448 points.
This sweet harvest is something that Dall’Igna wants to replicate in the 2023 season. However, the 56-year-old realizes it’s an extremely challenging endeavor.
While acknowledging the difficulty of the challenge, Dall’Igna doesn’t dismiss the opportunity altogether. He says he will strive to achieve this goal.
“So it’s a very difficult challenge, but we love challenges and we are happy to try to make it happen,” he continued.
On the other hand, Dall’Igna also asks his team to remain humble. The Italian also confirms that Ducati Lenovo will provide the best support to help Bagnaia defend his title.
“We are the world champions, but we must stay grounded and modest, which are very important traits in sports and life,” he said.
“Seeing number 1 on the bike is beautiful, and now my goal is to do everything possible to keep it there,” Dall’Igna added.
